The 6th Magdeburg Aorta Symposium will take place on 18 September 2024 from 18:00 to 20:00 in the Gesellschaftshaus Magdeburg. The experts from Magdeburg University Hospital, Prof. Jens Wippermann, Director of the Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery and Prof. Zuhir Halloul, Head of Vascular Surgery at the Department of General, Visceral, Vascular and Transplant Surgery, have jointly organised this forum and cordially invite you to attend. The aim of the event is to present the latest treatment options for the aorta and to discuss them in a professional dialogue. The symposium is aimed at all interested medical colleagues.
At 18:00, Prof Wippermann will open the symposium with a welcome address. Following this, leading experts from the University Clinic for Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Magdeburg and the University Clinic for Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at the University Hospital Bergmannsheil Bochum will present their specialised surgical techniques in aortic arch surgery.
The aorta, also known as the main artery, is the central blood vessel of the circulatory system. Blood vessels play a crucial role in the transport of blood throughout the body. The largest artery in our body originates from the left side of the heart and distributes oxygen-rich blood to various parts of the body via branching arteries. In an adult at rest, around five litres of blood flow through the aorta every minute.
The symposium is organised by several partner departments of Magdeburg University Hospital and underlines the close, highly specialised cooperation. All diseases of the aorta - from planned interventions to life-threatening emergencies - are treated here in interdisciplinary co-operation. All speakers are recognised experts in their field and offer comprehensive insights into the complex challenges of aortic diseases.
